Banda Lira Portuguesa de Brampton

António da Silva Moreira was born in June of 1936 in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Açores.

 

He began his musical 'career' at the age of 12, playing trumpet for Filarmónica Triunfo.

 

In 1967, Moreira immigrated to Canada and, in 1969, he was one of the founding members of Banda Lira Senhora de Fátima in Toronto.

 

Currently, he is the Maestro for Banda Lira Portuguesa de Brampton, a position he has held since its inauguration in 1976.
